Rick Riordan

Richard Russell Riordan Jr. a.k.a. Rick Riordan, is very aptly called the "Mythmaster". He is best known for creating the Percy Jackson universe. Percy Jackson books are what helped me get over my Harry Potter withdrawals. There are five Percy Jackson books and they have all the ingredients that makes books entertaining. A young hero with a bunch of friends with extraordinary powers, trying to save the world against all odds, with a small dose of teenage drama, romance, and angst thrown in for good measure.
Yes, the Percy Jackson books have it all. While the Percy Jackson books deal exclusively with the Greek Gods, with a very minor exception, the continuation of the series, "Heroes of Olympus" expands into the world of Roman Mythology, where the Roman counterparts of Greek Gods and Demigods are featured along with the exclusively Roman Gods.
in Rick Riordan's world all the gods from different cultures co-exist in harmony in the same universe. Riordan has a theory that gods are just primeval sources of energy and the forms they take are based on the perception people have of them. So said, it can be quite possible for the Greek, Roman, Norse, and Egyptian gods to co-exist in the same universe along with science.
Speaking of Egyptian gods, they were introduced in the Kane Chronicles trilogy. Kane Chronicles is a story of two siblings Carter and Sadie, who are magicians descended of ancient Egyptian Pharaohs and have the ability to host gods in their bodies.
While the worlds of Percy Jackson and the Kanes seem similar, they were kept separate until the crossover story "Son of Sobek" was released, which features Percy and Carter working together. A second crossover story featuring Annabeth and Sadie was titled "The Staff of Serapis". The crossover series was concluded with the story "The Crown of Ptolemy", where the two demigods and magicians come together to battle Setne. All the crossover stories were compiled in an anthology titled "Demigods and Magicians".
After playing around with Greek, Roman, and Egyptian mythologies, Riordan delves into Norse Mythology with the "Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard" series. Magnus Chase is a homeless kid, who discovers that he is the son of a Norse God, and he along with a motley group of friends has to prevent Ragnarok, and eventually the destruction of the world. Magnus Chase was already established in the Percy Jackson universe as he was introduced as Annabeth's cousin in the beginning, and while the characters from the two books don't interact much, they do meet each other and we get a glimpse however brief of Percy Jackson's life in the Magnus Chase books.
The events of the Magnus Chase books take place in roughly the same time frame as the "Trials of Apollo" series and occur parallelly to each other. Trials of Apollo documents the trial of the sun god Apollo who has been cast out of Olympus as a mortal by Zeus. In this book series Riordan has incorporated components of Greek and Roman mythology, that were left out in the earlier books. The Titans who allied with the Gods in the Titan War, and the Roman emperors elevated to God-like status all play a role in these books, along with the our favorite seven demigods from the previous books.
While Riordan is best known for his works in mythology, he has also written the Tres Navarre series and contributed to the 39 Clues series.
