Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a modern day take on Greek myths and Gods, as it follows the demigod child of Poseidon, Percy Jackson and his friends on the various quests to save the world.
1. The Lightning Thief: The first Percy Jackson book came out in 2005. In this book the protagonist Percy discovers he is the son of the Greek God of the Sea, Poseidon. He travels to a camp designed specifically to help train and offer sanctuary to demigods like him. En route he loses his mother to the Underworld and finds out his best friend Grover is actually a satyr. At the camp he meets the camp director, Dionysus, Greek God of Wine, Chiron, the immortal centaur who was pretending to be his Latin teacher at school, and makes a few friends and some enemies. Among the friends are Luke Castellan, the son of Hermes and Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena. After he is claimed by Poseidon, Percy is offered a quest to retrieve Zeus' missing Lightning Bolt and prevent a war between the Gods, specifically between Zeus and Poseidon. As Percy embarks on his first quest with Grover and Annabeth, the question remains whether the children of Poseidon and Athena be able to overcome their natural rivalry to focus on the quest at hand?
2. The Sea of Monsters: The second book was published in 2006. In this book, another important demigod is introduced and Kronos gets another pawn to manipulate. Although Thalia, daughter of Zeus makes her first appearance at the end of the book, her presence is felt strongly throughout the story. Meanwhile, Percy has a new friend, who turns out to be his half brother, Tyson, the cyclops. Annabeth dislikes Tyson, a really likeable guy, on the principle that cyclops are evil creatures. How will the three cope when they are thrown into a quest together to find the Golden Fleece which will prevent Thalia's pine tree from dying? And what happens when their ex-friend Luke Castellan and Camp rival Clarrisse la Rue, daughter of Ares is thrown into the mix?
3. The Curse of the Titan: The third book published in 2007 shows a power struggle between the two children of the Big Three: Percy son of Poseidon and Thalia daughter of Zeus. Things take an unwelcome turn when Annabeth their friend is kidnapped by Luke. Percy, Thalia, and Grover team up with the Hunters of Artemis and their lieutenant Zoe Nightshade to find Annabeth. Only problem, Zoe hates everything male, especially heroes. Will the heroes be able to overcome their emotions and work together to find their friend?

4. The Battle of the Labyrinth: This book came out in 2008 and made it amply clear to the readers as to why Kronos is often referred to as the Crafty One. As Nico di Angelo, son of Hades enters the fray, Kronos gets another hero to manipulate. Nico on the other hand is angry and trying to use his powers to bring back his dead sister Bianca by exchanging the soul of a living person who has cheated death. In the meanwhile, Percy and Annabeth find an entrance to the Labyrinth in the camp. Since that could be a potential invasion point for Luke, they enter the Labyrinth to find Daedalus, the creator of the Labyrinth to convince him to not give the String of Ariadne to Luke. But will they be able to navigate the creation of the most brilliant inventor ever and which in itself is a living and ever expanding entity?
